The notification bell in the Hands Console highlights some actions requiring your attention. Account → Notifications also displays notification kinds and delivery channels, but those preferences do not yet control the notifications you receive.
View working notifications
- Open the Hands Console.
- Select the Notifications bell beside your profile button at the bottom of the sidebar. On a phone, the compact bell is in the top bar.
- Open any available items. The badge shows the count, capped at 9+.
- If no item qualifies, the menu shows an all-caught-up message.
The bell currently shows two implemented kinds of items:
- Try your first task: under specific conditions, a ready Hand connected to an external AI displays a safe first-task suggestion. Select Copy to paste the prompt into your AI, or dismiss this reminder for that Hand.
- [Hand] needs a ChatGPT refresh: appears only for a ready Hand reporting that ChatGPT is using an outdated Hands tool list. Select it to open instructions for refreshing the tool list.
Completing a task or requiring approval does not mean the bell automatically creates a separate notification for that event today.
What the notification settings actually do
- Open Profile → Account → Notifications. On a phone, scroll the Account tabs sideways if necessary.
- The panel lists Task finished, Approval needed, Connector needs a refresh and Weekly summary.
- You can select Off or In app for each kind. These choices are stored only in this browser.
- The E-mail channel is disabled and marked as coming later.
Important: the panel is a preview of notification preferences, not an active delivery policy. The bell does not read these choices; it keeps displaying the notifications actually implemented even when Off is selected here. Selecting In app does not activate a weekly summary or new task/approval events. Choices are not guaranteed to synchronize to another device or browser.
Common questions and recovery
Why do I still see notifications after selecting Off? This is the current implementation. The bell is unaffected by those preferences. You can dismiss the first-task reminder separately.
Why can’t I choose E-mail? Email delivery is not available yet. Review important tasks and approvals in their dedicated Console sections.
The bell is empty. Not every event type is connected to the bell. Verify that your Hand is ready; ChatGPT refresh alerts require a specific reported update condition. Refresh the Console and check the relevant Hand or task results.
