A guest invitation lets another person view your Hand’s existing desktop in a browser. The guest sees the same screen, not an isolated copy of your workspace. Invitations are available only with a supported desktop engine and a ready Hand.
Create an invitation link
- Open the Hands Console, select the correct Hand and go to Computer.
- Choose Start computer to open its desktop. See Use your Hand desktop if you have not opened it before.
- When the desktop is active, select Invite someone. This may be an icon-only button with the accessible label Invite someone.
- The Console reveals an invitation link. Use Copy link, or select the URL field to copy the address.
- Share the link directly with the person you intend to invite.
- Your guest opens it in a browser, enters a name, and chooses Join session. Where the viewer supports it, review People in this session afterward.
The link expires after four hours, or sooner if you end sharing. It gives access to the current shared desktop session, not permanent membership in your Hands account. To share again after expiration, generate another link from an active session.
What can a guest do?
A guest can view the same screen you see, which may include open websites, visible files and application windows. As host, you separately decide whether guests may use the keyboard and mouse. Supported viewers offer a general guest-control switch and a participant menu for individual control. Receiving a link is not itself a grant of keyboard and mouse control.
The guest supplies their own display name; do not treat it as verified identity. Treat the invitation URL as a bearer access link and do not post it publicly. Close sensitive content before inviting someone. The feature does not promise a separate or isolated guest workspace.
If invitations are unavailable
- No Invite someone button: the selected desktop engine may not support invitations, or the Hand/viewer is not ready. The Console hides the button when lack of support is reported.
- Link cannot be used: check the four-hour expiration and whether sharing was ended. Create a new link if needed.
- Guest cannot see the desktop: verify that the Hand’s desktop is running and the guest’s browser can reach the sharing session. Network and viewer problems can interrupt it.
- Participant controls are absent: those require a compatible viewer that reports its state back to the Console. Not every desktop engine has them.
